Construction Training Program

The PWT Construction Pre-Apprenticeship Program prepares individuals for entry into union apprenticeship programs and careers across the construction industry. Developed by the North American Building Trades Union, national affiliate of the Sacramento Sierra Building and Construction Trades and aligned with national apprenticeship standards, this program introduces participants to essential trade skills and industry expectations.

This program covers the MC3 Core Curriculum, in addition to providing Career Placement assistance, PWT Life skills and Supportive Services in addition to the extensive focus areas listed below, giving students a strong foundation in both technical and professional development. Designed to be inclusive and supportive—especially for underrepresented populations—the program builds confidence, skills, and readiness for apprenticeship. Graduates complete the program equipped and prepared to enter registered apprenticeship programs and begin successful careers as union and non-union craft-workers.

COST: This program is open to the general public and is FREE for participants who qualify for grant funding. The full tuition value is $5,000 per student, and grant support covers this entire amount for eligible individuals. For those who do not meet the grant qualifications, the program is still available through direct tuition payment..

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

• Must be at least 18 years of age

• Must be a Sacramento region resident

• Must be able to attend class schedule: typically 3+ hours/day M-F and some weekends. ​​
